Job Description

The Technical Data Analyst (TDA) is a key contributor to cutting edge analytic work that spans the broad spectrum of healthcare data projects at HSAG. Driven by intellectual curiosity and a passion for healthcare quality, the TDA develops and executes innovative analytic plans that are intended to provide healthcare decision and policy makers with the necessary information to transform healthcare. The TDA will perform a broad spectrum of data management activities including analysis, reporting, data quality evaluation and validation, standardization, and activities required to insure data integrity for health care operations, audit and clinical data.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an integral part of HSAG Application Development team.
  • Understand primary types of healthcare data and methods for approaching data assessments.
  • Evaluate a wide array of data types.
  • Conduct and interpret analyses, develop appropriate statistical models, manipulate complex databases, and track and evaluate patterns of care and outcomes.
  • Perform data validation, conduct analysis plans, and cross reference data.
  • Develop data models and data flow diagrams.
  • Attend and participates in team training meetings.
  • Present and communicate project results to non-analytic staff members and customers. 
  • Represent HSAG in a professional manner at all times.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, related social science, business, economics, math, statistics, or another quantitative discipline. Master’s degree preferred. 


SKILLS

  • Advanced SSIS and SSRS with experience in complex data transfers and report creation.
  • Data mapping (source to target).
  • Experience working with healthcare data is required - especially CLAIMS data.
  • Understand primary types of healthcare data and methods for approaching data assessments.
  • Conduct and interpret analyses, manipulate complex databases or datasets, and track and evaluate patterns.
  • Perform data validation, conduct analysis plans, and cross reference data.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, and SQL Server.
  • Proficient in Microsoft in Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Develop data models and data flow diagrams.
  • Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Relational database management and design.
  • Database performance tuning.
  • Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and work with multiple teams.
  • Entity diagraming.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of statistical programming in SAS. SAS certification preferred.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, and other reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
