Job Description

SUMMARY 

Under limited supervision, direct analytical project staff in analysis and reporting of results for national survey initiatives.  Provide technical and analytical expertise and leadership.  Responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of department deliverables. Duties include: production of descriptive and statistical analyses of health care surveys; production, documentation, and distribution of data files; technical interpretive writing; and production of automated reports for presentation and distribution. 

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior data analysts and programmers responsible for high profile deliverables on a federal health care survey project.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programming using SAS (Base SAS, SAS Graph, SAS Stat, the SAS macro language, and the Output Delivery System).
  • Advanced knowledge in statistics, research design, methodology, and data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and project results to nonanalytic staff and stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
  • Design, code, test, document, and maintain complex computer programs in a production environment.
  • Encourage the development of reusable programming solutions where possible.
  • Effectively resolve programming problems by conducting a thorough analysis of the system and employing appropriate debugging techniques.
  • Produce and document project databases.
  • Implement validation and quality control measures to ensure the accuracy of department deliverables.
  • Contribute to the statistical analysis and writing of technical reports and articles.
  • Provide technical support to end users of department reports and data.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information processed, stored, or accessed by systems.
  • Assist in project management activities to ensure that all deliverables are accurate and submitted on schedule. 

Job Requirements



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • Master's degree in health economics, epidemiology, public health, analytics, biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline. 
  • Five to 10 years of analytic work experience at a senior level, such as programming, statistical analysis, data management, or research. Healthcare setting preferred. 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • MS Office products Word, Excel, and Access, including VBA.
  • Survey design and analysis.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
