Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available now for those interested in the quality of care for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients. Through implementation of quality improvement projects and activities, Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on improving the quality of life and quality of care for individuals receiving dialysis or a kidney transplant in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.  CMS calls this region Network 15. 

Under general direction, this position will function with the Executive Director and QI Manager to assist in the development and implementation of an overall quality improvement approach to Network 15 activities with special focus on bloodstream infections, vascular access, home dialysis, transplantation, mental health, pain management, grievance resolution, and patient and family engagement.  The position also functions with administrative, data, and patient services staff to meet and maintain all contractual obligations.  Project deadlines may necessitate occasional extended work hours.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads Quality Improvement Activities (QIAs), including root cause analysis, plan-do-study-act (PDSA) cycles, rapid cycling improvement activities, and data collection and validation.
  • Conducts analytic reviews of project data to identify outliers and provide technical assistance to improve outcomes, as well as to identify and spread best practices.
  • Develops patient and professional educational materials and meetings.
  • Assists with the resolution of patient and facility concerns and complaints.
  • Provides knowledge and expertise in support of CROWNWeb and the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN).
  • Provides technical assistance to facilities and other stakeholders in support of the ESRD Quality Incentive Program (QIP), Dialysis Facility Compare (DFC), Dialysis Facility Report (DFR).
  • Supports development and timely / accurate submission of deliverables to internal and external customers.
  • Develops and delivers appropriate communications to facilities and stakeholders
  • Forges partnerships with stakeholders to meet the goals of the contract.
  • Engages professionally with all members of the Network team, CMS, other stakeholders and organizations.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must be an experienced healthcare professional with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in appropriate science or related discipline required. 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office systems.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present and instruct through both written and verbal means.
  • ESRD experience preferred.
  • Solid organizational and team building skills.
  • Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously and in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
