Job Description

Under minimal direction, conducts and/or validates quality/performance improvement projects for Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).  


  • Serves as a technical resource for the state, MCO staff, and external partners for performance improvement projects.


  • Collaborates with state, MCO, and external partners on performance improvement projects.


  • Validates the design, analysis and interpretation of results, and interventions/quality improvement activities and processes performed by the MCOs.


  • Knowledge and/or experience with quality improvement science tools and rapid-cycle improvement methods.


  • Facilitates technical assistance and on-site trainings on the use of quality improvement tools and methods, data mining, data analysis, and interpretation of outcomes.


  • Ability to translate the performance improvement projects evaluation/validation findings into written reports.


  • Work on multiple projects in a collaborative team environment.


  • Conducts research and literature reviews.


  • Manage day-to day MCO and state projects and activities, deliverables, timelines, and attend on-site meetings and trainings, upon request.


Job Requirements

  • RN, MSW, MPH, MA or BA in a health-care related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Minimum of three years quality improvement experience.


  • Health plan experience and/or certified professional in health care quality (CPHQ), preferred. 



  • Experience with the Model for Improvement developed by Associates in Process Improvement and Institute for Healthcare Improvement, preferred.


  • Familiarity with Windows environment.


  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.



  • Accountable for the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and quality of all assigned functions and tasks.



  • In this position, the employee may be subject to environmental conditions related to occasional in and out-of-state travel.




  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities and use critical thinking.


  • Ability to utilize professional judgment and discretion.


  • Ability to communicate detailed ideas and instructions clearly and competently to staff and clients by written and spoken word.


  • Ability to analyze and address client and company issues.


  • Ability to coordinate numerous project activities and tasks concurrently and efficiently.


  • Ability to travel to presentations, meetings, and review sites statewide and out of state.


  • Ability to learn and use computer software programs.


  • Ability to adhere to established company confidentiality policies.
