Job Description



SUMMARY

As a member of the IT Team, the Network Administrator III is responsible for supporting the configuration, installation, maintenance and ongoing support of various servers, systems and technologies in support of our IT infrastructure. The Network Administrator III will work collaboratively with other administrators, technicians, and leadership to provide back-end network and systems support.  Typical responsibilities include installation and configuration of Cisco routers/switches/ASA’s, availability and performance monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and developing documentation, and project planning and communications. The Network Administrator III will also provide support for related incidents or outages, conduct root cause analysis and document solution within defined service levels; provide after hours or on call support as assigned or requested.



ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership, technical planning, implementation and technical support for information systems networks, hardware, and software to all users in a multiple network, multiple site environment.
  • Responsible, quick learner, creative, analytical thinker, resourceful and able to work independently
  • Assists with administration, maintenance, improvements, and support of
    • Cisco network equipment including
      • Routers
      • Switches (and Nexus)
      • Adaptive Security Appliances - (ASA)
    • Cisco Firepower and features (geo-blocking, intrusion and malware detection, etc.)
    • Meraki wireless access points
    • Monitoring and documentation tools (PRTG, NetBrain, CatTools, Amazon Route53, IPAM, System Center Operations Manager, Visio, etc.)
    • Azure environment (IaaS, PaaS, network connectivity)
    • Juniper switches
  • Understands
    • Configuring QoS, BGP, EIGRP, RSTP, VLANs, EtherChannel, NAT/PAT, ACL, IPSec VPN
    • IP Protocols and Services - DHCP, HTTP, TCP/UDP, FTP, TFTP, IP, DNS. IPv4, SSH
    • WAN technologies including MPLS, Leased Lines, ISDN, Broadband
  • Researches, recommends, plans and implements new technology
  • Provides technical leadership to junior team members
  • Acts as Tier III Helpdesk escalation team member/on call support
  • Assists the IT team with
    • Documentation of IT systems and changes
    • Hardware diagnostics, software problems, updates to, and replacement of defective components
    • Monthly maintenance and testing activities

Job Requirements



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or five years of relevant experience
  • Technical certifications are a plus (CCIE, CCNP, CCNA) or equivalent experience
