Job Description


The Medical Technical Editor/Writer will work closely with the project teams to produce clear, thoughtful, coherent, and accurate healthcare-related documents that include measure information forms, measure justification forms, reports of environmental scans, summaries of literature reviews, and analytic reports. 


These include the following and all other duties as assigned. The responsibilities listed below constitute an initial list of tasks that may be modified or expanded as necessary by the organization to maintain negotiated contractual obligations.  

  • Under general supervision, the Medical/Technical Writer writes and edits materials needed by the project teams, so that all documents are clear, thoughtful, coherent, and accurate. Documents include measure information forms, measure justification forms, reports of environmental scans, analytic reports, summaries of literature reviews, meeting minutes, website materials, and routine status reports. 
  • The Medical/Technical Writer assists with literature reviews, verification of references, and other research, as needed. 
  • The Medical/Technical Writer coordinates editing by team members to meet project deadlines. 
  • The Medical/Technical Writer implements version control processes during editing. 
  • With direction, the Medical/Technical Writer applies skills to resolve problems not covered by existing procedures or practices. 
  • 10 percent travel required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. 
  • Two years of medical writing experience. 
  • Demonstrated skills in communication, writing, and collaboration. 
  • Ability to work independently and take direction. 




  • Experience in medical writing and editing is preferred; however, candidates with strong writing experience will be considered. 
  • Ability to synthesize information to produce clear and accurate narratives. 
  • Expertise in English grammar and syntax. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and track key deliverable dates. 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.

 Ability to type proficiently and navigate approved databases. Expertise in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
