Job Description

This position supports the Project Director and/or Project Manager in the maintenance and implementation activities for clinical quality measures that are proposed for use in national quality reporting programs for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Project Coordinator ensures that activities are carried out according to established timelines and in accordance with HSAG and CMS protocols and procedures.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently manages project timelines and tracks the status of each task to ensure deliverables and contract deadlines are met. Examples of tasks include annual maintenance of measure specifications, preparing measures for re-endorsement, and supporting measures through the federal rulemaking process and implementation into public reporting programs.
  • Assists with drafting and preparation of high-quality CMS deliverables, which include public-facing documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensures technical accuracy of all measure specification documents to align with SAS code, classification tables, and output tables provided by the analytic team.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with key stakeholders and collaborators including CMS and other CMS contractors.
  • Monitors and web-based system daily for questions from stakeholders and responds in a timely, concise, and precise manner. When necessary, coordinates with appropriate team members and consultants on responses.
  • Prepares for and leads team meetings; documents key decisions and action items.
  • Incorporates a continuous quality improvement philosophy into day-to-day assignments.
  • Manages calendars and schedules meetings with internal and external team members.
  • Assists with the orientation and mentoring of new staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Travel may be required to achieve project goals.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field required.
  • At least three years working with clinical quality measures or experience with collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to national quality measures.
  • At least three years of healthcare quality improvement experience with project management skills required.
    • Clinical experience in an inpatient setting or with psychiatric patients preferred.

  OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced skills in project management-associated principles and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
  • Working experience in quality improvement-associated principles and tools.
  • Solid organizational and team building skills.
  • Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to forge partnerships with multiple organizations.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including standard MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to use all basic office equipment.
