Job Description

Serve as the Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for the Hospital Inpatient VIQR Program by eliciting requirements and managing testing associated with the project’s activities in support of  Hospital Inpatient VIQR activities.  This position is responsible for coordinating both internal and external resources to achieve project goals and objectives. In coordination with the Director and Associate Director, elicits requirements, maintains project documentation, and manages the testing process.  The BSA acts as an internal and external liaison for project activities by working to make customer requirements into functional tools. This individual represents the company as needed at planning, training, and implementation meetings with assigned clients.



  • Participates in requirements analysis and verification through peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents, ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, verifiable, and that they conform to standards.
  • Collaborates with team leads in requirements prioritization and estimation of levels of effort, risk and cost of implementation
  • Ability to design and draw business process models, and flowcharts based on business analysis.
  • Responsible for version control of documents, have knowledge of defect tracking and associated tools, and know the life-cycle process for software development.
  • Elicit requirements from internal and external business stakeholders to clearly define the scope of the business problem and document business objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams in the development of database applications. Must possess strong communication skills (written and verbal), in addition to excellent relationship management skills.
  • Identify and document functional and non-functional business requirements and/or user stories through various techniques including research, analysis, user interviews, and facilitated-requirement sessions.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on business functionality and impact of system change in collaboration with developers to recommend an optimal solution that meets or exceeds the business needs and requirements.
  • Accountable for ensuring completion of assigned tasks according to contract specifications and that completed tasks meet client and budget requirements.
  • Assist with analysis and testing tasks, if needed.
  • Assure timely and high-quality contract deliverables, and be accountable for the development and adherence to project time and task schedules for assigned projects.
  • Troubleshoot with other HSAG departments on project activities when necessary.
  • Maintain flexibility to assist and support all department activities as necessary. Keep abreast of changes in analysis and testing techniques and database development technology, and communicate this information to peers and others within the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or demonstrated experience, in health care, computer science, epidemiology, public health, management/business administration, or other related field.
  • 1-3 years business analysis experience.
  • Healthcare information systems and translating that information into usable documentation and management tools preferred. 


  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of business analysis and requirements elicitation process.
  • Knowledge of application development process, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Work experience with SharePoint implementation and support.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices.
