Job Description

SUMMARY 

An exciting opportunity is available now for pharmacists interested in quality improvement, measurement, and healthcare policy. Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on health care quality measurement and evaluation projects and quality improvement activities. This work includes the development of quality measures for CMS quality reporting programs, broader research on the quality and efficiency impact of the use of measures, and working with providers and community-based organizations to improve the quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries.  

The Clinical Pharmacist position will support information gathering and research efforts specific to the development of quality measures and healthcare policy research. The position will also provide clinical expertise on pharmacy and medication management related projects. 

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide clinical expertise to an interdisciplinary team for pharmacy and medication-related contract activities.
  • Participate in the design of study protocols, research plans, research methodologies, and literature reviews.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical reports, abstracts, manuscripts, and contract deliverables.
  • Assist in the development, promotion, and implementation of quality improvement activities and the provision of technical assistance to providers, partners, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Communicate and work well with internal team members, community partners, and stakeholders to plan, facilitate, and execute activities.
  • Remain current and knowledgeable about new initiatives, activities, opportunities, tools, and techniques through research, training, and continuous education.
  • Routinely document and report on project status, on-site visit activities, provider activities, and barriers/solutions using appropriate HSAG and/or CMS reporting tools and databases.

Job Requirements



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

  • Pharmacist license required
  • PharmD degree required
  • Research experience required
  • Clinical experience required; inpatient clinical experience preferred
  • Quality improvement and/or measurement experience preferred 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledgeable in statistics, research design, and data analyses
  • Extensive experience in presenting findings and results of research tasks or quality improvement activities to clients and other professional audience
  • Research fellowship or clinical residency preferred
